Happy 2009!

Okay, so it's a new year. I always feel so obligated in the first few days of January! Like, I must make a list, or Resolutions as some call it! But in the past, I have never been good at sticking to it. So my Resolution this year is, NO resolutions!! :) I am doing one thing for sure though, and that's taking better care of myself. My diet, my water drinking, getting more exercise, all that. When I was pregnant with Little Man in '07, I had gestational diabetes and I made radical changes for HIM. I actually lost 3 lbs. that I was pregnant with him, and it was okay! I ate more fiber, all my veggies and fruits each day, drank all my water, walked all the time, drank NO soda, ate NO sugar, and felt Good! Amazing! :) So, I am going to go back to that. Our 20 year high school reunion is at the end of April, and I really REALLY want to lose 15 lbs. by then. But I'm trying not to look at it as a diet, just a life change that I've done before, and know works.

I am starting school in a little over a week, and I'm freaking out. It's been 19 years! I'm taking it very slow, just 2 classes at a time, and the easy ones to start. The program is Health Information Technology, a two year program I am dragging out! The plan is, by the time Little Man hits school age, I'll be done. I can do it, right?!

My wonderful DiSH went to work today, first work day of '09. He had such a wonderful attitude, heading out the door to work outside all day in the cold. His partner went skiing..... We need money! No room right now, for extras. We pride ourselves in not having/using credit cards. Christmas is cash, or nothing! Add in that week two kids' birthdays, and if we don't plan ahead, we can get a little bogged down with wanting to spend, spending a little more than we should, but at least the holidays and birthdays are not something we are paying for months down the road!

Time to go put wood in the stove again....and get a refill on coffee...my one indulgence!

  1. Good luck with all of your "to-do's" for 2009! I know that going back to school will be challenging, but very rewarding for you.

  2. Look at the low gi diet, or Glycemic Index. My nurse told me about it for PCOS and Insulin Resistance. It sounds like what you already did anyway but it might help!

Good luck with school! I dropped out of grad school to be a S'Mom (step mom) and I want so badly to go back!

I have two kid birthdays in January! So I sort of know what you mean about geeling overwhelmed without planning. I had both of the boys bdays done before Christmas. Now I know there are great deals after Christmas so I should wait for those deals to buy for birthdays. :)
