Learning and Loving

Last night was my last lecture class in Anatomy and Physiology. I have one last exam to take on Tuesday night. I can remember times in the past, hearing people talk about that class, and how intense it is, and how much time it takes to study, and to get a good grade is a very hard thing to do. I was extremely scared going into this class. I know now that God knew that, and He made sure I signed up with a GREAT teacher, who not only made things easy to understand, but also made things fun. She was a very entertaining instructor! I enjoyed her a lot. And I can't believe that two semesters of A&P are done! Our last chapter to discuss was about pregnancy and human development. This was my very favorite lecture class of them all! And not because it was the last one. ;) I just really love learning about how my babies were made and how they grew inside of me. It is all so absolutely amazing, and I'll just be bold here and say, I just can't believe that there are people in this world that don't believe we are created from our amazing Creator's hand! He thought of everything. I was in awe, as my teacher discussed how our lungs are not in use while in the womb. I knew that, but to know all of the why's, in's and out's is just awesome. Our God is an Awesome God. As we were studying the placenta and umbilical cord, I started to breathe heavier, and my heart started beating way fast. As many of you know, Little Man was born premature due to a condition called VASA PREVIA. You can read about it here. Caleb's story is here too, under Share With Us, Personal Stories and then find his name Caleb W. Chase. Blood vessels were mistaken for the umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck, resulting in an emergency c-section. It wasn't until he was born, and the placenta was delivered too, that my doctor and midwife realized it was VP. There is no medical explanation for his existence. He is a survivor of this deadly condition. For the rest of the evening, Vasa Previa haunted me. I went to bed with Little Man, snuggling him close. And now as I write, he sits beside me, watching Sesame Street and munching on his favorite snack, a plain tortilla shell! God is good. Oh, so good.
Little Man, 1 month and 9 days old. In this picture, he had been in the hospital for 9 days, due to bronchiolitis. He had been home from the NICU from January 11 until the 20th, when he got sick. He didn't go home until Feb. 4.

He was one sick little boy! But time and special care healed him to perfection. :)

This was Mother's Day, 2008. Two years ago already!!

And now look at my Miracle Boy...

There.
I feel better now!
Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend......

  1. You know me...I would have cried through the whole placenta and umbilical cord part! Although I do LOVE a good picture of a placenta.
