UPDATE ON: Perfecting my Backstroke....

UPDATE ON THIS POST:
I received a great comment on the orignal post that you can read below, and I went ahead and put it into my own words here. Thank you my Dear Friend!

The FIRST thing I WILL do is spend time in prayer/meditation;  I will read of the Proverbs 31 Woman and how she wakes while it is still dark. I will pray it will make a difference in my day.

I will ask God to take control of the day; to order my steps. I will allow Him to show me what to teach my Little Man, tell me what to cook, and ESPECIALLY how to monitor my time on the computer.

I'm sure throughout the day I will be reminded of my priorities (Little Man tugging at me)and I will take this as the Lord reminding me of what needs to be done.

I will try to be a good steward of God's time and when I do, I'm sure He will allow time for me to do the things I enjoy.

ORIGINAL POST:

Have you ever had so many thoughts, ideas, STUFF just going on in your head, and you can't wrap your brain around it all? This is happening to me. I wonder if there is a name for it. I want to blog, but I can't organize in my head all of the different topics I would like to share! There is so much going on in my life right now, and I don't think I feel like I am drowning in it all, but floating rather, just sort of floating along. I like organization. I function the best when my life is organized. When there is a plan. My family would agree with that. If the calendar looks empty in weeks and months to come, I don't like it. But lately, even with a full calendar, I am just floating through.

I don't want to miss the little things. I somedays find myself at the end of the day, wondering if I even had a full conversation with Girly Girl.......Did I sit on the floor and play with Little Man today? Did I hug Mr. Smarty Pants today? And the DiSH...did we kiss? What DID I do today? What did I do yesterday? I love going to school. It is that organization that I know I am thriving on when I am there. I get there, I sit down, get out my books, notebook, pen, highlighter. The sign-in book goes around, I sign it. The teacher begins lecturing, and I take notes. All organized. When the two hours are up, my books go back in my bag, in their rightful places, same with the pen and highlighter. Accomplishment. There.

I am going to work harder this week on more of a routine. I don't really have one right now. Except for when I go to class! My days now, are usually Get up only because I have to get the kids off to school, or Little Man is crying at 5:30am. I make school lunches, and rush the kids off to school. The DiSH is gone by then, working on a job, or running errands. Me? I sit on the couch, coffee beside me, pbs on for Caleb, and I get on the computer. Now that would be fine if at a certain time I shut the computer OFF! But I always find something I "need" to do. Like this post. I needed to. Yes, I did. Here and there the computer gets set aside for a diaper change, a snack, fold the clothes that have been sitting in the laundry basket for 18 hours and are now wrinkled. Go pee. Answer the phone. Finally clean up the breakfast table. Before I realize it, it's 10am (or 10:44am as I write) and I still haven't showered!! I need to take two online tests today...I don't have a plan. I am babysitting until 1pm. I NEED A PLAN.

What do you do? If you are a stay-at-home-mom or dad, or you work from home, how do you organize your day? And if you work out of your home, how do you stay on track in the mornings/evenings and weekends?

I want to stop floating, and I want to accomplish a nice even backstroke!! Help!

  1. GREAT REALITY post, Lisa.

The FIRST thing I MUST do is spend time in prayer/meditation; I have to or I'm a bear in the woods looking for direction (lol). I think of the Proverbs 31 Woman and how she wakes while it is still dark. This really does make a difference in my day.

I ask God to take control of the day; to order my steps. I allow Him to show me what to teach my child (homeschool), tell me what to cook, and ESPECIALLY how to monitor my time on the computer. It is definitely addictive and if blogging wasn't my job through Momsweb, I don't know what excuse I'd use (smile).

I'm sure throughout the day you are reminded of your priorities (Little Man tugging at you)and I take this as the Lord reminding me of what needs to be done.

I try to be a good steward of God's time and when I do, He seems to allow time for me to do the things I enjoy.

    Have a great Spirit-led week!

  2. I'm having the same sort of problem!! I just sort of blogged about it. I'm really feling desperate to accomplish something everyday...other than cleaning something that WILL get dirty again and folding laundry that, well you know.
    It's hard.

  4. Oh my gosh, this is so me. I don't feel like I ever accomplish anything. I just don't know what to do. I know there are things that need to be done. Maybe I will blog about this also. Great post.
